The Process of Getting Published

Query Letter:
The first step in the process of being published by Centaur Books is to send us a Query Letter. The first paragraph must grab our attention. Why should we publish this book? What makes you an expert in this topic? Who is your target audience? How are you going to reach them? Be concise. Include your contact information. One page maximum. The Query Letter should be sent to the Las Vegas address (see Contacts section) or to info@joshuatreepublishing.com.

Submission Request:
If we like your Query Letter, we are going to ask you to send us your more information such as an outline of chapters, a few sample chapters, and a Marketing Plan. Please follow the Guidelines and requests we make. We base each request on the individual author and the work. This is a critical stage for you to be published. Please be prompt in your response.

Materials Needed:
After our Submission Request, we review the materials you have submitted. If we continue to be impressed with your work, then we will ask you to submit your manuscript in two formats. We will want a printed manuscript and the book on CD for our review process. There are very specific guidelines in providing this material. Please follow them precisely.

Review:
Your manuscript will be reviewed in a timely manner. We want to publish books which we feel can be successful for both the author and our company. As we review your book, we might ask for subsequent material or request answers to specific questions. We take this process very seriously.

Acceptance:
If after reviewing your manuscript and marketing plan, we feel that we can provide you with an excellent chance at success, we will send you an Acceptance Letter. The letter will congratulate you on providing us a wonderful product to publish and will request some additional information so an agreement can be reached.

Agreement:
Because every author and book are different, we offer contacts which are specifically designed for your work. We will negotiate with you to reach an agreement that is both fair and equitable for both of us. We are looking for long term relationships with our authors and that is why we have this process. We look forward to working with our authors.

Centaur Books premieres as new Imprint from Joshua Tree Publishing

If you ever wanted to write a book, you know that getting published the first time is very difficult. Today's publishing industry does not want to "gamble" on "unknown" authors. That is why Joshua Tree Publishing started a new imprint called Centaur Books where we specialize in partnering with authors to publish their books. We specialize in authors getting published by combining our resources in an unique formula which allows the author to tap into our resources and 21 years of experience. While you may wonder why we would take on such a task, the answer is really simple.

We believe everyone has the right to express themselves in an unfiltered way.

Centaur Books has the expertise and experience for publishing books. We offer authors access to our experts—while our authors concentrate on writing books. Publishing a book is a process. We guide our authors through that process...from the initial preparation of their manuscript, editing the book, designing the cover, formatting the text and cover for the printer, printing the galley proof, and printing the finished book. We remain committed to our authors and their success. Because if they aren't successful, we aren't. And that is what partnership is all about.

But we do not stop there. We help the authors with promoting their books. We give our authors access to media lists which specialize in book promotion. We help out authors by providing information on book stores, direct mail outlets, and alternative sources where they can market their books. We offer training seminars throughout the year which focus on writing, editing, and marketing books. To learn more, go to CentaurBooks.com.
